Nitecore CU6 and CI6 Chameleon

The Nitecore Chameleon CI6 and CU6 have just left the manufacturer bound for the UK with an expected delivery date of later this week.

Both models are unique to the market and show that Nitecore continue to innovate while others just follow.

The CU6 features a 3000mW 365nm Ultraviolet LED in addition to a Cree XP-G2 LED and secondary RGB outputs. UV light has a multitude of uses from currency and identity authentication to spotting Scorpions. There is an interesting thread about the various uses on Candle Power Forums:

The CI6 features an 850nm infrared output that has been designed for use with night vision equipment. Infrared is used in night vision equipment when there is insufficient visible light to see. Night vision devises operate through a process involving the conversion of ambient light photons into electrons that are then amplified by a chemical and electrical process and then converted back into visible light. Infrared light sources can be used to augment the available ambient light for conversion by night vision devices, increasing in-the-dark visibility without actually using a visible light source.
