21/12/2025Great no nonsense torch with simple usable features and IP68 rating. Nice size, not too small as to be fiddly but also not too large as to be unwieldy. Ideal size for a pocket either on your person or in a bag, glovebox. I really appreciate the simple controls, just on/off and brightness is all I wanted. I really like the fact the charging port is on the battery so whist it is charging you can continue to use the torch with either a spare NL1416R or two AA batteries. Its also one less potential point of water ingress. The option to use two AA's was a big selling point for me! The pocket clip is genuinely secure and I would trust it to hold the torch in most situations. The lanyard is also well made and perfectly functional. I probably wouldn't have mentioned the "tail stand capability" in the description on the Nitecore site, because unless its placed on a perfectly level surface with no wind and/or vibrations it will just topple over. This doesn't concern me in the slightest as I have never needed to use a torch in this manner. The review Moorlander EDC gave on this torch had a positive influence on my decision to purchase this torch.

Description
The Nitecore MT2A Pro torch has a maximum output of 1000 lumens from the NiteLab UHi 20 LED and is powered by a customised, high performance, li-ion battery (NL1416R) which has a built-in USB-C port for direct charging into the cell. Alternatively the light can use 2 x AA batteries, ensuring you have power when you need it most.
Based on the popular MT2A, the Pro version offers improved outputs, runtime, beam distance and a more compact design. The flashlight features 3 brightness levels, ranging from 50 to 1000 lumens. It is operated by a single tail switch; fully press to turn on and off and half press to cycle through the modes.
The MT2A comes with a pocket clip for secure attachment to your clothing, gear or accessories. It has built-in advanced temperature regulation (ATR) to prevent overheating and tail stand capability, so it can be stood on end with upward illumination.
Brightness Levels:
Using the NL1416R li-ion battery
High: 1000 lumens - 1 hr 30 mins runtime
Mid: 300 lumens - 2 hrs 45 mins runtime
Low: 50 lumens - 20 hrs runtime
Using 2 x AA alkaline batteries
Mid: 500 lumens - 2 hrs runtime
Low: 60 lumens - 11 hrs runtime
Advanced temperature regulation (ATR) regulates the output of the MT2A Pro according to the working and ambient temperature to maintain optimal performance while preventing the LED from overheating. The outputs are measured in total of runtime, including output at reduced levels due to temperature or protection mechanisms in the design, causing the brightness level to drop down.
Maximum beam distance 255 meters, waterproof to IP68 and resistant to impacts up to 1 meter.
